Located in western Entre Rios, a northeastern province of Argentina that literally means “between rivers”, geography and land-use create t
he bird hunter’s paradise. The Paraná River and the Uruguay River collectively form a watershed (ie., migratory bird funnel) encompassing northern Argentina, all of Paraguay,much of southern Brazil, into Bolivia and most of Uruguay. Topography is mostly flat Paraná River delta and associated wetlands. Habitat is characterized by very compact vegetation,wildlife-beneficial agriculture, primarily rice (Entre Rio accounts for 60% of Argentina’s rice production), and pastureland. Soybeans,wheat and maize are principle row crops. Waterfowl and upland game birds thrive.
Duck hunts are conducted from dry to semi-dry blinds. Blinds are well-concealed and usually within a half-hour drive from the lodge. During the Argentine fall through winter months April-August, duck limits are a liberal 25-30 per person, and usually achieved within a couple hours or less. Little substantial hunting pressure, an abundance of cover, cereal crops and feed lots, creates excellent dove hunting. A day spent fishing for golden dorado perfectly partitions days of wingshooting before and afterwards during a 5-day package. While water temperature may be cool during the winter months, the weather needed to produce good fishing is usually possibly on extended trips – and if not, well, there’s always the incredible hunting for ducks, doves, perdiz and pigeons to fall back on!
The landscape of agricultural crops and forest cover is interspersed with pastureland that offers superior perdiz hunting over some of the finest German short-haired pointers in the country. Limits of 8-10 per person are usually completed within a few short hours of easy walking, even while taking in the beautiful sites or taking time to visit with present company. Wild pigeons are decoyed in feeding areas such as cut corn, with daily tallies usually numbering 150+, but are commonly taken during dove hunts also.
Hunters are lodged in private executive suites in the perfectly unpretentious estancia located near the Argentinian resort town of La Paz situated on the beautiful Paraná River. Guests are lodged 2 per room. Satellite TV, microwave and telephone, air-conditioning and heating. Guests convene for excellently prepared dinners, cocktails and stories. Sample Itinerary for 4-day La Paz Argentina Duck Hunts
The relaxed pace of this particular itinerary enables guests to begin their hunts fully rested and refreshed following international flights.
Day 1. Depart the U.S. on an overnight flight to Buenos Aires
Day 2. Arrive Buenos Aires in the morning, met by host and private-transfer to lodge. Those wishing to arrive early and spend time in Buenos Aires preceding their hunt will be picked up at hotel.
Day 3. Awake at La Paz well rested. After a hearty breakfast, enjoy an action-packed morning Argentina duck hunting combo. With plenty of time to enjoy lunch and a rest, spend the afternoon shooting your choice of doves, pigeons or perdiz.
4-6. Full days of Argentina hunting. Though Argentina duck hunting is usually best in the morning, you may opt for perdiz or dove. Meals are enjoyed at the lodge, which is never far away. Soaks in the natural hot springs and therapeutic massages may be scheduled to relax tired arms and shoulders.
Day 7. Transfer to BA. Depending on US-bound flight times, rest or tour Buenos Aires.
Day 8. Arrive in the U.S. and make connections home, usually arriving about mid-day.

What to Bring – Argentina Duck Hunting La Paz
Packing for an Argentina duck hunt is relatively simple. The weather is comparably mild for waterfowling, and the walk or ride to the blind is relatively easy. You may rent from a selection of clean, reliable semi-automatic 12-gauge shotguns, but bringing your favorite firearm is highly recommended and very easily done. Lightweight, breathable waders are the perfect choice for the dry or semi-wet blinds used while Argentina duck hunting at La Paz.

Gratuities – Argentina Duck Hunt La Paz
Gratuities are not included in Argentina duck hunt package cost since tipping, in general, is discretionary. about $75-100 per hunter/day paid to staff is pretty standard. Because clients have repeatedly asked that we provide general guidelines the following is suggested:
- $200-300 per bird boy per hunter per week
- $100 for household and field staff, per person for total stay
- $30 per group per stay for waitress
Do not tip house or field staff daily. Your hostess will coordinate your paying their gratuities for when settling your ammo account prior to departure, and will help dispense accordingly. Optionally tip your hostess after returning to Buenos Aires. For hunting trips in general, total gratuities are 5-10% the package cost as clients deem appropriate.

About the Area – Argentina Duck Hunting Packages at La Paz
Entre Ríos is a northeastern province of Argentina, located in the Mesopotamia region. It borders the provinces of Buenos Aires, Corrientes and Santa Fe, and Uruguay in the east. The first inhabitants of the area that is now Entre Ríos were the Guaraní, Charrúa and Chaná, who each occupied separate parts of the region. Spaniards entered in 1520, when they ventured up the Uruguay River searching for the Pacific Ocean.
The name of the province means “between rivers”. Entre Ríos is rife with many rivers and streams: the Paraná River and its delta to the west and south; the Uruguay River and the Mocoretá River to the east; and the Guayquiraró River to the north. As part of the Mesopotamic region, the land is almost completely flat, with hills some 100 meters in height.
The Paraná River is second in length only to the Amazon River among South American rivers. The name Paraná is an abbreviation of the phrase “para rehe onáva”, which means “as big as the sea”). It merges downstream with the Uruguay River to form the Río de la Plata and empties into the Atlantic Ocean.
The City of La Paz is located on the Paraná River and began as a natural harbor. It is reached by National Route 12, at the 800th kilometer marker from the Buenos Aires. A quaint city of about 25,000, tourism during the South American summer months is integral to the local economy. Consequently, amenities such as the La Paz Fine Arts Museum, the recently-developed La Paz Hot Springs Spa, a local hospital, golf course, restaurants and churches are conveniences not readily available in many other Argentina wingshooting venues.

Fantastic La Paz Argentina duck hunting combo
What a fantastic week at the La Paz Argentina duck hunting combo! From the first morning duck hunting horseback adventure till the last afternoon hunting perdiz, I had a fabulous time. Beto helped me get all the game I could poorly shoot and even put up with me taking pictures of each and every different duck species. Oh the lovely birds! It was hard to focus on shooting when there are so many birds to see all around us. The food of course was fantastic, and there is not enough room in the book to describe the people. Karen, Osvaldo, and Flavia know how to keep us happy and very well fed! Beto was perfect with the horses, and oh what fantastic horses we had all week. I wish I could take a pair of them home. Argentina nothing less than perfect
Argentina was nothing less than perfect. Now back in the summer in Denmark, I would like to say thanks for the amazing duck hunting combo trip to Argentina. I know it wasn’t meant to be La Paz, but now I realize how lucky I actually was, first of all traveling with a top-professional outfitter, who was able to find a solution when force majeure made it necessary, and secondly, during the hunt I realized that as a first-time wingshoot in South America, the combo duck hunt of La Paz was probably even more exciting for me. I had three unforgettable duck hunts, reaching the bag limit every day, taking five of the six occurring duck species and enjoying the horseback riding almost as much as the hunt. The upland bird hunt was also perfect, yielding five more species to the hungry journal and photo album I keep. The Picazuro is my new favourite pigeon!
And lastly, I met the nicest people, the locals, you Martha, who made all wishes come true and everything slide perfectly, Jim and Gary, who are just about as close to a married couple as it gets, and the guys on the new team – who has invited me on a wood duck hunt in North Carolina this next season! I had a 4th of July-party with Americans and the 9 de julio-celebration in Buenos Aires, living right on Avenida 9 de Julio! In short – a perfect hunting trip. I would love to go with you again soon!

Wow! The Argentina duck hunting combo at La Paz exceeded my expectations! My son Bryan and I were shown such good hospitality. Martha is such a kind, good natured and organized host – she is a gem! Osvaldo and Karen are such good folks – what incredible gourmet food! The duck hunting was unequalled, the guide staff were really on top of their jobs. Beautiful duck species. Rosybills were in vast numbers and decoyed very, very well. Dove hunting was at a major roost – wow – shot hundreds! Decoyed pigeons were a blast! Parakeets were in such arge nubers it was incredible. We caught large dorados and ate them on an island in the Parana River. The bird dogs allowed us to shoot our limits of perdiz quickly. From the time my party arrived until the time we were dropped off at the airport we THE SOUTH JERSEY BOYS were treated with the greatest respect. Your entire staff MARTHA, OSVELDO, DEIAGO, SANTIAGO, PASHA did a great job considering the changing conditions due to the major flooding that had occurred there.
I was not expecting the quality of service or accommodations that the La Paz lodge provided, especially the the food that KARIN AND OSVELDO provided !!!! Every meal we had I considered to be 5 star rated. They went out of their way to provide our every desired meal and tastes.
Plus spending time with them all as we relaxed after our evening meals included ALOT of laughter and great stories made even better with the lack of completely understanding one another due to the language differences, but Martha and Dieago did outstanding jobs translating, sometimes causing even greater bouts of laughter! The meals in the field were cooked to perfection and you were right, I don’t think I will be eating any beef here in the USA for a while !
The duck hunting was difficult due to high water conditions but the boys did their best to put us on birds, and we shot plenty. While the dove, pigeon and perdiz hunts were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING SHOOTING. I think we surprised everyone with the volume of our shooting. Our group of 4 hunters shot 496 boxes of shells over 5 days, for a total of around 6000 birds!!!! I truly loved the pigeon hunts, and the parakeets are a hoot to shoot.
You were right MARTHA is a wonderful and amazing hunt hostess and she knows how to put on a first class trip!! I pray the you never loose her as she is a valuable and rare person to have as an employee. And she can bust balls with the best of us men.

The food was great, the hunting was fantastic, and everyone we met was a pleasure. The best part of the trip was that my brother, Ty, and I did something different every morning and every afternoon.
Martha was absolutely fantastic from the time we got to Buenos Aires to accompanying us on every hunt. You could not have a better partner and team. She made the trip delightful with her personality and knowledge. Everything was great! We especially enjoyed the field lunches.

Just returned from the La Paz Argentina duck hunting combo. They put us on the birds every day. Osvaldo and Karen were excellent hosts and served incredible food.

Argentina duck hunting definitely was the trip of a lifetime for me. I was very impressed with the attention to detail throughout our trip. Martha, our hostess, was very friendly, went out of her way to be helpful, and really made the experience more enjoyable. The entire staff (drivers, bird boys, lodge staff) were great and sincerely wanted our experience to be the great one that it was. The variety of wingshooting options presented were extremely attractive in that we got to do a variety of activities as well as an opportunity to fish.

Hunting with my boys is the best to me, and for them to experience the finest Argentina ducks hunting in the world was rewarding.
Lots of birds and fishing was great. The quality and variety made a wonderful trip. Accommodations were comfortable in a beautiful setting and the food was outstanding. La Paz is a slice of Heaven! As a lifetime waterfowl enthusiast and owner of a waterfowl operation in North America, I understand that the success of a trip is the collection of everything one experiences while in the care of others.
The accommodations in La Paz were supurb. Food was gourmet and homemade. The hosts, as well as our facilitator Martha, made us feel at home.
The details of our hunt were accounted for from the fun loving bird boys to the excellent dog work. The hunting was full of variety. We shot decoying ducks including 4 species of teal, tree ducks, shovelers and rosy-billed pochards while watching hundreds of thousands of doves fly overhead. Dorado, perdiz, decoying pigeons and intense dove hunting were at our fingertips!
Thanks for the incredible time. Next time I will leave the boys behind and return with my spouse…soon!

From the La Paz operation you have a real gem in Martha, she really went to the end of the world to do everything possible for me, as well as that I found a real friend who is very bright and intelligent and has deep thoughts and emotions. She stuck with me like glue and never missed a beat. She is your most prized asset and I hope that you accommodate her very very well for without her your operation down there would not be as successful!!!!
The shooting was as good as advertised and I shot 96 pigeons, 72 ducks and 10 Perdiz over 2 days so that is what I went down there for and I realize that sometimes birds don’t always show up!! I have wonderfull memories and you all made it come true for me.
All in all a wonderful trip. I hope to come back some day. It’s a huge expense for me but well worth it .
